When my father-in-law suddenly passed away, I found myself navigating an overwhelming maze of documents, legal requirements, and decisions — all while grieving. Even with trusted advisors, much of the responsibility and emotional weight fell on me. It was a confusing, stressful experience that revealed just how fragmented and outdated this process still is.

As I began talking with friends, colleagues, and families, I realized how common this situation was. Many people didn't have wills at all. Others had estate plans created years earlier that no longer reflected their lives, families, or wishes. And far too many had faced the same scramble — trying to piece everything together during one of the hardest moments of their lives.

I created Sunset so others wouldn't have to go through that alone. The platform is designed to help people organize, protect, and update their most important information — and to guide loved ones when it matters most.

Our AI assistant, Larry, is named after my father-in-law — a small tribute to someone whose life and passing inspired this mission. Larry was always the person people turned to for advice. He was deeply dedicated to helping others protect their assets, care for their families, and plan thoughtfully for the future. In many ways, the AI carries forward the same spirit of guidance, clarity, and care.
